Burns Media
Three daily intelligence briefings at the intersection of policy, capital, and power. Built for the professionals who need the facts before the market reacts.
Why this exists
Most newsletters in our space are written by journalists for journalists. They cover the industry from the outside — what happened, who said what, why it’s notable. That’s useful if you’re writing about the industry. It’s less useful if you’re trying to win contracts in it, comply with it, or trade against it.
Burns Media writes for the people doing the work. The Contract Wire is for federal contractors bidding on the contracts. AI Governance Daily is for legal and compliance leads deploying AI under real rules. Biotech Catalyst Daily is for investors allocating against the FDA calendar. Same morning, same 7 AM ET, three different desks — all with one rule: no filler, no hot takes, just the morning intelligence that pays for itself.
Founder
Ryan Burns
I’m the founder and editor of Burns Media. I built it because I kept finding myself in three conversations — with friends in federal contracting, AI compliance, and biotech investing — where they all had the same complaint: the trade press doesn’t actually serve the practitioners. Industry newsletters are either too polished and slow (long-form weeklies that miss the timing) or too noisy and shallow (firehose RSS aggregators that don’t curate).
Each briefing is edited daily. The intent is straightforward: give a working professional five focused minutes of intelligence so they can spend the rest of their morning making decisions. The model is closer to a Bloomberg terminal alert than a Substack essay.

The three briefings
Section I · Government
The Contract Wire
For small business federal contractors. New SAM.gov solicitations, set-aside alerts (8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB), agency spending shifts, SBIR deadlines. Plus the optional Pro tier for personalized opportunity alerts filtered to your NAICS.
Section II · Policy
AI Governance Daily
For legal, compliance, and product leaders deploying AI under real rules. EU AI Act timelines, US federal and state enforcement, NIST and ISO standards updates, and the precedent-setting cases everyone needs to track.
Section III · Markets
Biotech Catalyst Daily
For investors and analysts allocating against the FDA calendar. PDUFA dates, AdCom meetings, Phase 2/3 readouts, accelerated approval conversions, biotech licensing deals and M&A.
Editorial principles
- Practitioners over pundits. Every story is written for someone who’ll act on it — bid the contract, file the compliance, allocate against the catalyst.
- Signal over speed. We’d rather miss a story by 12 hours than publish one we don’t fully understand.
- The thing, not the meta. What happened — not what people are tweeting about what happened.
- Source links every time. Every claim links back to a primary document. We don’t paywall facts.
- Editorial-first AI use. AI helps us draft and summarize. A human edits everything before send.
